This film shows how it is possible to recover ancient remains, such as bone fragments and other very small remains, by using water sieves. An approach to archaeology-botany from the starting point of the earth samples taken from apithos ceramic recipient found at a dig at Ierissos. The archaeological site of the ancient Akanthos, the biggest port in the north east of Chalkidiki(Greece), found in the 7th century BC is in modern-day Ierissos.
The Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut is the third oldest museum in the Near East, after Cairo and Constantinople. This film takes us on a long journey through the 150-year History of the Museum to tell us the story of its foundation in 1868, the evolution of its collections, the role of its eight curators and its major achievements.
Prehistoric ceramics can become a source of inspiration for present-day potters. Throughout the documentary, artisans experiment with the (re)creation of highly burnished vessels of four European societies of the Bronze Age: El Argar, Únětice, Füzesabony and Vatin. In four episodes, we follow the manufacture processes of these pots very closely, from the search for raw materials to the firing of the final product. The production, with Spain, Germany, Hungary and Serbia as a backdrop, is part of the project "Crafting Europe in the Bronze Age and Today" (2018-2019), in the framework of the “Creative Europe” programme.
Looking for Sapiens explores our clichés about prehistoric man, clichés created in the 19th century, and asks prehistorians and enthusiasts about what a “fairer” view of these Palaeolithic populations could be, in line with scientific research. Does it seem obvious to you that Cavemen wore small fur garments, carried a big club, had a bone through the nose and scruffy hair? That he wasn’t very clever, and his language was barely comprehensible? And that he dragged his wife around by the hair? Then this is the film for you! All these preconceived ideas you have about Prehistory are false, and we’re going to prove it... in this documentary!
The geoglyphs of Nazca, those fabulous vestiges of a civilisation lost a long time ago, have withstood the passage of the centuries without revealing all their secrets. More than 2,000 years ago, the inhabitants of the pampas drew geometric lines, gigantic drawings and built monumental cities. Who were they? Who were those enigmatic figures that could be seen from the sky? Who were they for? What was their purpose? For more than a century, researchers have been trying to solve this mystery. Some believe that they are maps of the heavens, others claim that they are astronomical calendars, or even landing strips for extraterrestrial ships. But, until now, none of those theories has been proved.
The history of the Parthenon of Athens through 3D reconstructions, from its construction at the middle of the 5th century BC to its destruction and pillaging in the 19th century. A short film directed by the celebrated French-Greek film director Costa Gavras, winner of, among other prizes, the Oscar, the Golden Palm and, more recently, the Donostia Prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
It all began in July 2018. Groups of migrants from Africa trying to cross the border with France began to arrive at the railway station in Irun. They slept in the street. The NGOs operating among the people managed to get some squatter movements to loan their premises. This wave of generosity caught on among the people of Irun.
The latest documentary by Juanmi Gutierrez, the director from Errenteria.
