With the opening of the Oiasso Roman Museum last July, a project with which the festival has been associated since its origins, the personality of the FICAB has been reinforced. The processes that have taken place since 2004 have led to its formal integration in the European Federation of Film Festivals on Archaeology and Cultural Heritage. Fedarcine was created in 1985 as the “European Committee of Archaeological Film”, with the intention of bringing together international European festivals which had amongst their objectives the protection of historical and archaeological monuments, the discovery and protection of cultural heritage and the broadcasting of audiovisual works to promote past civilisations. At the time, there were only three festivals with these characteristics: Brussels, Paris and Verona, which were joined by Bordeaux in 1988 and Amiens in 1989. Over time, some of the pioneering festivals disappeared or were changed to other formats, while new events were added until a network was formed and relaunched in 2006 with nine participating members:
AGON, International Meeting of Archaeological Film of the Mediterranean Area, Atenas, Grecia.
Archéologie et Film, Musée de Mariemont, Bélgica.
CINARCHEA, International Archaeology Film Festival, Kiel, Alemania.
Festival du Film d’Archéologie d’Amiens, Francia.
Festival International du Film d’Archeologie de Nyon, Suiza.
ICRONOS, Festival International du Film Archéologique de Bordeaux, Francia.
KINEON, Festival International du Film Archéologique de Bruxelles, Bélgica.
Rassegna Internazionale del Cinema Archeologico di Rovereto, Italia.
