The archaeological site of San José de Peralta in Guanajuato (Mexico)
was the site of the birth and development of a pre-Hispanic people
distinct from other classic Meso-American cultures. Their ritual and
festive spaces, the characteristic architecture of the “sunken
courtyard”, their funerary beliefs and the oldest precursor to the Danza
de los Voladores ceremony are just some of their most unique traits.
