Helena Horta, a specialist in the analysis of pre-Hispanic designs, is currently investigating the meaning of the decoration of the different objects used by the ancient inhabitants of the Salar de Atacama for consumption of hallucinogenic substances. Victoria Castro is a prominent Chilean archaeologist who has spent over 40 years researching past and present societies of the Atacama Desert. With her, we will visit places like the pre-Hispanic villages of Toconce and Turi, the latter characterised for being one of the main Inca centres in the region. CBA Section.
