The Ateius and the terra sigillata italica

The manufacture of a new type of pottery commenced in around 50 BC in Arezzo. In just a few decades, it became very successful, reaching the furthest Roman provinces: the so-called Terra Sigilata Italica. One of the most enterprising manufacturers was Ateius.
