Abiseo, cultural forest of the chachapoya

Deep in Peru’s Río Abiseo National Park, a UNESCO Mixed World Heritage Site, an interdisciplinary team of scientists and conservationists sets out on a unique journey to investigate, document and protect the Gran Pajatén archaeological complex, the cultural legacy of the ancient Chachapoya civilisation. This film documents their efforts to preserve the site and the challenges of working in one of the most remote and environmentally endangered places on the planet.
