A team of archaeologists from the Paleolithic Research Institute of Cantabria has made a 3D reconstruction of the shelf of the horses in Atxurra cave. They want to see paleolithic art with the same illumination used by its creators. They have tried different lighting systems, such as grease lamps and torches, and have carefully measured the lighting power of each one. The result of their work is really amazing.
When out in the mountains or in natural areas, it is common to throw the cores and stones of the fruit we eat on the ground, assuming that they will simply biodegrade. And this is true more often than not. However, if a series of highly specific environmental conditions are met, it is possible for this organic matter to be preserved for hundreds of years. One of the tasks of archaeologists and archaeobotanists of the Arkeolan Foundation is to search for and study these materials in order to learn about the diet, clothing and utensils of our ancestors.
